Landscape Design - Rooftop

Design Brief:

The client had decided that they wanted a swimming pool while the children were still of an age that the whole family could enjoy it together and that the possibility of situating it on the rooftop terrace of their four level home might allow an entire indoor/outdoor entertaining area to be created.

The idea would deliver very obvious functional benefits as well as inspiring views of the city, Suncorp stadium and Mt Coot-tha. The main challenge and possible preventer was its location on a rooftop above a garage not necessarily designed for this purpose. Based on this, the client provided the following brief:

• WOW factor was to be a key consideration. They wanted to be impressed by an interesting space which could be seen from different angles and that invited them to use it.
• The pool should be as big as possible and include a spa for maximum family use.
• An outdoor kitchen to include a fridge, bbq and electric pizza oven.
• Include provision for informal dining, seating and relaxing
• Provide privacy from the upper balcony of the adjacent property
• Include interesting design elements/effects/finishes
• Include some planting if possible but not a high priority
