Design Brief:

The residence is an inner city terrace close to the eastern suburb beaches of Sydney. The clients' brief was to design and create a relaxed contemporary terrace to compliment a young family's recent renovation and creative lifestyle.

The clients wanted their style reflected in the terrace. The interiors were styled with a Scandinavian twist. The main outdoor furniture had been purchsed, eg. lounge and umbrella, and these items were to be incorporated into the design.

The space needed to be fit for adults and children, and reflect the feeling of having a 'backyard' space. The space was to be used for different occasions at different times so the terrace needed to be flexible and cater for this.

The terrace had to have an area that could be used for cooking, whether it be portable or built in.

Screening from the neighbours was a must to provide privacy but still needed to allow light and breezes into the space.

Interesting and textural planting was used to compliment the interiors and a coastal feel in the planting style reflected the clients living near the beach.
