Landscape Design - Residential Design Less Than 50m2
Design Brief:
The brief for this small courtyard project was to create a usable low maintenance garden space reducing the exposed feeling of the garden and hiding two service pits. There was also a shed that dominated the space but had to stay.
The design created small space areas for entertaining, quiet relaxation at the end of the day, and somewhere for friends to sit. Trees and the large multi stem palm improved the feeling of privacy.
The dominance of the shed was reduced by incorporating it into a garden bed, and two drain covers were hidden by removable deck steps placed within a deep planting bed leading from the deck to the shed.
Changing levels created spaces within the garden area to maximise the feeling of being surrounded by greenery. A raised planting bed was created behind the seat further emphasising being surrounded by the garden, as well as adding height to the newly planted crepe myrtles to increase privacy.
