Plantscape Design - Design Brief:
The clients had bought the property in a dilapidated state with a view to renovating the house and gardens extensively in a contemporary style with a hint of a South African theme. The design needed to respond to the topography of the site which falls 12m across the lot down to a natural minor creek line. The existing vegetation blocked views down to the creek line.
A key focus of the garden design was supplementing the existing foliage plants and mature trees with a suitable variety of new plantings to create a layered, established feel to the property. Numerous themes within the property, such as sub-tropical, sculptural, bold and massed planting styles that suited the client’s tastes were used to create this effect.
Opening up living spaces created natural vistas and glimpses of the creek line, its sculptural riparian habitat and its established vegetation canopy.
