Design Brief:

The Darley Community Hub renovation project was a Council initiative to include early learning and an after hours care building and landscape to existing Council occupied amenities.

Without a specific design brief inspiration was taken from the adjacent suburb which had identifiable character in its surrounding landscape including quarries, rivers, mountains, agricultural land and highways. These strong features were translated into a 'small people' world.

Conventional guidelines of early learning design had to followed including age appropriate activities, all abilities access, safety versus risk, fine and gross motor skill challenges, sensory stimulation, cognitive, artistic, physical and social development.
