Design Brief:

The brief was to re-design the entry garden and side passage following some major renovations on the property, creating a more engaging entry that created some privacy from the street and when exiting the front door. It was also important to contain the family's dog in a discreet manner.

To achieve this it was necessary to completely renovate the driveway and entrance so it read in conjunction with the recent modifications that had been completed on the house.The house design had moved towards a more modern design ethic however the client's love of all things nautical lead to the inclusion of softer finishes including reclaimed timber. The previous pedestrian entry was realigned eliminating the views directly to the front door and forcing visitors to engage with the garden. The use of stagered steps and an oversized landing created a moment of pause for the garden to be enjoyed before proceeding into the house.
