Landscape Design - Educational/Institutional/Playspace

Design Brief:

To create a functional and beautiful space for residents, staff and families to be able to enjoy the courtyard garden whilst in the safe environment of the nursing home.

The key was to design a sensory garden with seasonal changes, accessible for mobility challenged patients.

Key design principles included:
• Simple navigation
• Clean and clear walkways
• Ramps for level changes
• Sensory gardens, specifically appealing to the touch and smell, whilst catering for seasonal changes
• Separate areas to spend time with loved ones
• Room for children to play
• Raised garden beds for ergonomic gardening
• Screen array of windows and AC units
• Walkways to loop around through zones in order to make it a good place to walk and experience nature.
