Design Brief:

Leopold Child and Family Centre is an early years childcare facility catering for children between 0 - 5 years old in a quickly developing neighbourhood in Geelong. BLUE Landscape Architecture were engaged to upgrade the centre's long term and day care facilities. 

Their brief was to re-imagine the centre with practicalities such as adequate built and natural shade options, reduce cold south westerly winds, overall durability, containment of sand and soil play.

Create environments which invite open ended interactions, spontaneity, risk taking, exploration, and discovery all within a nature based environment. Names had been assigned to each of the age groups to help with identification and sense of belonging. With an ocean based theme, jelly fish, seals, seahorse etc. provided a fun design element to tap into and opportunity to bring the namesakes to physical form in the play spaces.
