Commercial Open Space Design
Design Brief:
Ecco Ripley is a masterplanned estate located at Ripley, Ipswich. The latest precinct, ‘Lighthaven’, contains approximately 10 hectares of open space including a number of exciting recreational parks.
The design was required to meet Ecco development principles including environment, community, connectivity and opportunity (ECCO).
Detailed requirements included:
- Clear pedestrian thoroughfares doubling as both connectivity through the site and exercise/ fitness tracks;
- Community health and activity including informal fields, sporting equipment, courts, informal running circuits and outdoor gym;
- Sustainable approaches where possible including energy efficient lighting, solar reuse, species, etc.;
- Adaptable spaces for events, gatherings and recreation;
- Catering for both current user needs and future, high density catchments.
The design pays homage to 2017 Indigenous (NAIDOC) Female Elder of the Year, Faye Carr, and
the incredible work she has done for the community.
