Landscape Design - Rooftop
Design Brief:
The client occupied the top floor of the residence with private access to the rooftop garden - the client’s sanctuary. Correct green roof guidelines were to be followed to adjust the rooftop aesthetic.
The client requested that the rooftop provide a beautiful view all year round and celebrate the seasons with a softening of the varied steep levels of the terraced rooftop garden
The rooftop garden needed to embody the light and airy feeling portrayed in the name of the residence ‘Welkin’ - Vault in the Sky/the heavens/ Celestial Sphere.
A beautiful view from the living area and a sensory connection to the garden was desired. The plant palette had to encompass plants that could tolerate the extreme heat and glare present on the irrigated rooftop in the peak of summer. The existing 2 trees and boundary planted vines were to remain insitu.
