Design Brief:
The brief for this project was to create a pretty, cute, timeless little front yard with a modern cottage feel that created a welcoming introduction to the property.
The entry starts with the informal filetti steppingstones and more formal bluestone pavers zones. The random ends of the filetti blur the lines between hard and soft and instantly relax the space and create interest. A water bowl delivers a sense of calm and the spheres of teucrium, westringia and buxus provide a contemporary take of clipped hedges. In and around these spheres lies, liriope, scenecio, ajugs, salvia and mondo which all nestle under the canopy if the crepe myrtle and bay laurel hedges.
The clean open lawn offers an opposing balance to the eclectic nature of the southern side and the gardenia hedges, Stachys Byzantine borders and murrayas offer the perfect contrast while allowing a sense of space to be present. The front porch sitting area was also considered as it provided views to all areas.
