Residential Landscape Design 50m2 - 150m2
Design Brief:
The clients wanted to transform their existing dark & dingy backyard into an inviting space for use and entertaining all year.
They also wanted to unify their split-level backyard. The upper area contained a pool. The lower level (housing water tanks and other services) was screened off by a blockout fence preventing the family from using it.
Level changes were exploited in the design to create separate spaces. Vistas were enhanced and undesirable views blocked. A feeling of spaciousness was created by using foliage that added volume, removing the blockout fence, reducing the overhead tree canopy, adding lighting to focal points, and hiding all services.
A simple green-on-green plant palette was used that felt like an extension of the rainforest beyond.
The variety of natural materials used increased the richness, light and warmth of each space. A green arbour above the seating gives enclosure & privacy, whilst opening up views.
