Landscape Design - Residential Design Less Than 50m2
Design Brief:
The client requested a space that was restrained and structured with a contemporary high impact skew. They required a small garden space off their apartment to provide a high end garden to look upon but not to disturb the beautiful view out to the harbour.
The easterly outlook was screened with a fast growing lilli pilli hedge. To break this up three copper archways were installed, which also added height connecting the lower level to the existing top tiled area.
A simple structured planting palette was used in front of the larger hedging of various sized Buxus balls and low buxus hedges combined with a white dominant flower scheme for simplicity and high impact without interference with the view.
A lawn was requested for their dog so Zoysia was selected for its fine leaf and formal appearance. A small sun trap of a seating area was created to take in the view whilst feeling immersed in the planting. A light grey limestone in a herringbone pattern added texture, gave a high end look to this area while complementing the dark timber look tile selected by the apartment's builder.
A low bowl water feature adds sound and movement without dominating the space and a carefully considered lighting plan adds atmosphere and drama when the sun sets.
