Landscape Design - Residential Design Less Than 50m2
Design Brief:
The homeowners were a family with two young boys and two very active small dogs. They had recently renovated their Inner-West terrace, leaving them with a level, but minimal outdoor space. Their new kitchen and lounge room opened onto the garden. The main focus was creating a space for ‘hanging out’ with the kids, nothing too formal.
Incorporating a lawn area was a requirement for the dogs, with dog proof plants. The block boundary walls were to be disguised and softened. Low maintenance was a requirement. Storage was to be provided, along with a designated space for a BBQ.
The deck was designed to finish flush with the living room, providing an open, outdoor platform for the family to relax. Raised garden beds were filled with tall, screening plants to disguise the boundary walls and double as seating. A cantilevered bench seat ensures a spot for resting in the shade, while steps off the deck lead down to the lawn area.
The majority of the garden beds are tucked away in raised planter beds, hidden from the reach of the dogs and a built in timber shed provides seamless storage. Every inch of space was considered not only for it’s use, but how it would look from the inside of the home.
