C.O.S design - Gold Award
Rural or Coastal Landscape Design
Design Brief:
This site with nearly 6m of fall from the front to the rear as well as an array of protected tea tree and Moonah provided the designer with a challenge.
The home sat perfectly within the surrounding setting and it became the designer's task to turn it into an understated beach house at the front and an entertainers party town to the rear.
Beautiful, natural spaces were created in the front yard where the clients often like to sit in the afternoon. An entertainers delight at the rear is where a pool, fire pit, tennis court, lower lawn area and trampoline all work in perfect harmony together.
At the front the driveway weaved in and around the stunning tea tree and feature Moonah trees. Curved corten planters, local limestone boulders and plantings soften the steep bank.
Plantings are predominantly coastal natives and silver greys hues are the theme. The planting palette was kept simple and clustered to ensure a relaxed yet semi ordered, clearly defined, garden theme.
The arbors and the sitting deck service all areas including the the tennis court, trampoline and the pool areas and have built in shade awnings throughout for flexible shade options. Privacy was created using cantilevered arbors and a privacy screen.
