LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT - ENVIRONMENTAL & AMENITY HORTICULTURE
Design Brief:
Creekside Thornlands is a town home development located in Redland Bay, Queensland. The site includes communal open spaces and over 3.5 hectares of rehabilitation to critical habitat and wetland areas.
The rehabilitation area was paramount in achieving both development and environmental outcomes for the site. The site was historically cleared (previous golf driving range) and effectively fractured a largely continuous environmental corridor along Eprapah Creek, part of the internationally critical RAMSAR wetland conservation area.
The area required extensive rehabilitation whilst balancing tidal wetlands, water quality treatment, fauna and edge activation for resident exercise and interaction.
Judges’ Comments:
Good research into local species and an overall landscape that flows and is coherent around housing and the various landscape features such as fitness nodes.
