OUTHOUSE design - Gold Award
Master Planning
Design Brief:
The client was the NSW office of the RSPCA and its central facility located on one of Sydney’s busiest connecting roads. The RSPCA have undertaken a long-term plan to rejuvenate the complete site including the construction of a central Administration building, new veterinary clinic, café and multiple holding kennels.
OUTHOUSE design was engaged from the very beginning creating a complete Master plan for the site, and a plan to roll out construction in stages. The overall objective for the client was to engage with the centre’s visitors via education, advocacy, awareness and contribution towards, animal health. With that in mind the landscape masterplan identifies a number of key destination points or activity hubs, they are then unified by connecting pathways, cohesive materials and statement avenue planting.
Judges’ Comments:
This project is innovative, exciting & original. The design shows very careful consideration of the client’s brief and some very thoughtful design solutions given the constraints of the project. The perspective drawings highlight the creative use of materials and features and the consideration of all practical aspects required by the RSPCA. This unique project demonstrates meticulous planning.
