Outhouse design - Gold Award
Plantscape Design
Design Brief:
The client was a Shopping Precinct Operator which every year has families descend on their site, to visit Santa and experience a traditional Christmas Grotto of plastic silver trees, reindeer, and glitter.
They had a desire to create a more sustainable message, this was high risk because of the commercial imperative to ensure numbers of visitors was in no way compromised. Santa’s Grotto had to be a big drawcard.
One of the challenges and opportunities of the project was to work with an install partner who historically owned the install of the ‘traditional plastic Christmas’.
OUTHOUSE design had the opportunity to educate and influence them in order to convert them to ambassadors of a new revolutionary green Christmas solution. They wanted to take the opportunity to re connect our younger generation with nature as well as unifying and reigniting the memories many Australians have during December- the end of year seasonal (Christmas) family holiday.
Judges’ Comments:
This is an outstanding design project. Santa’s Grotto has definitely reinvented the enjoyment of Christmas, it is unique project which has delivered in all aspects of the brief. It is inspiring to see a green Christmas solution which has a wonderful display of plants. Well done to the designer who is so creative and has amazing attention to detail.
