Design Brief:

A major house renovation and new pool construction dominated the property,

leaving an empty, ambiguously sloping space in the lower third of the site.

The brief was to design a garden that would draw a young family out of the house and beyond the pool, venturing further into the steep site. Privacy from an adjacent property and pool was also a requirement.

Judges’ Comments:

A well-considered, creative and clever design solution for a difficult site. There is an excellent balance between soft and hard landscaping. The landscape clearly reflects the brief and the fire pit area is a particularly inviting space. The plants have been well chosen for their climate and position and they make a real impact, framing the view beautifully.
