Rural or Coastal Landscape Design

Design Brief:

To design a coastal outdoor oasis for a growing family on their large coastal bush block in Shoreham on the Mornington Peninsula. The brief consisted of a large pool, alfresco entertaining space, lounging areas, BBQ and a pizza oven.

The planting chosen consists of wild pockets of eclectic coastal and exotics that combine to create a tapestry of form, texture and colour. There are some mass beds of carex commans, bronze form, with spheres of westringia and teucruim to contrast the wild grass beds. Selected Eucalypts were also strategically positioned to replace the three trees we removed and well as creating some height and structure closer to the home and outdoor usable spaces.

Judges’ Comments:

The garden design sits comfortably and elegantly in the landscape, and when the trees mature it will even more so. The design has a real connection with the home and the surrounding natural environment. There is an understated WOW factor with the stunning wet edge feature alongside the pool and the careful choice of natural materials and coastal plantings.
