Landscape Design - Large Size Design
Design Brief:
The brief was to soften the contemporary two storey residence, providing lush and thought-provoking garden outlooks, while connecting the internal and external living spaces. An atmospheric green buffer was required to disguise the close proximity of the neighbouring properties. The client wanted the result to be a private haven for relaxing and entertaining.
The outcome combines both native and exotic plant species with contrasting forms and textures, creating an emotive and soft palette complimenting the contemporary architecture. The layered planting of varying heights coupled with the careful placement of trees and their overhead canopies, provide the sense of seclusion and privacy.
Judges’ Comments:
There is an impressive creation of different spaces within the garden and an appealing balance of textures in the garden – heavier chunky textures with soft, airy textures that get caught in the breeze. There is a beautiful entry to the property and the softening of the contemporary style was achieved with the offset steps cradled by carefully placed plants.
