Landscape Design - Mid Size Design
Design Brief:
The owners of this property were looking to do a major update of their pool & rear garden area. The existing spa was to be connected to the pool with a cabana to be located adjacent to the pool on the upper level. The cabana was to house a small bar, an outdoor BBQ kitchen and dining area overlooking the pool. A fire pit and garden seating area were to be set within the rear garden.
The kitchen & living room were on the lower level of the house so the views from inside out to the yard were an important factor to consider. There was a huge level change from the rear of the home to the rear boundary. There needed to be plenty of interest through the level changes. New privacy planting was also required to create a more private oasis feel.
Judges’ Comments:
This design added a whole new level of opulence and relaxation to this property. Removing the lip from the pool creating a spill-over infinity edge was a bold move that instantly activated the connection between the house and backyard. A series of resort-style outdoor rooms mediate the considerable level change across the site with generous proportions which suit the scale of the home.
