Design Brief: 

The brief was for a harmonious design with respect to the period of the existing property and the modern extension. Bringing balance with a seasonally intriguing garden that promotes a soft rambling aesthetic, utilising texture, form and colour.

The design was to carefully consider garden orientations and maximise vistas and opportunities, explore fitting textures and finishes and cohesive exterior treatments.

A new rear covered entertaining space, finishing of a pergola structure and new pool were required. The design was to carefully consider all screening requirements and address these to promote a private garden with pleasant outlooks.

Judges’ Comments:

Judges considered the design a clever response to the client’s brief. The design and construction of the garden and living space complimented the heritage building and its contemporary, streamlined extension in a sympathetic and appealing way.
