Project: Sanctuary House
-
Bronze Award - Residential Design (Mid Scale)
Design Brief:
The brief was to ground the large home and walls into the property. The feeling of being submerged in a retreat was desired with a sense of canopy and abundant green. The hardscape was to be blurred and counter-balanced with planting.
The area above the garage needed to be enticing to use being a distance away from the house and interesting to look down onto. The balconies were to be dressed, with the kitchen balcony used for edibles.
Judges’ Comments:
Judges thought transforming a concrete jungle into an urban paradise in a very confined space was a massive challenge accomplished very successfully.
