Growing Rooms Landscapes
Project: Maroubra Residence
-
Gold Award - Residential Design (Mid Scale)
Design Brief:
The client requested a lap pool that was wide & deep enough for the kids to jump into with an integrated spa. The challenge was to make the large scale of the floating pool integrate into the landscape. Glass fencing was used so as not to reduce the size of the surrounding gardens and to give the illusion of more space.
The client’s passion for entertaining was to be considered in the dedicated dining space and the existing Lilly Pilly hedge on 3 sites of the garden was to be retained to provide privacy on all boundaries. The client wanted the planting palette to incorporate a mix of natives and exotics which are well suited to the sandy loam soils throughout the site.
Judges’ Comments:
Accessing the elevated pool up floating concrete steps was considered a clever design ploy by the judges as it helped to maximise perception of space in a confined backyard.
